We would like to invite you to the 44th Annual NOBCChE Conference and K-12 STEM Week held at the Raddison Blu Hotel in Minneapolis, MN Oct. 30 - Nov. 3. This year's conference is themed We Are NOBCChE: Community, Leadership, and Partnerships. NOBCChE is an inclusive community of STEM leaders focused on catalyzing STEM partnerships for the 21st Century, and we hope that the workshops and sessions at the 44th conference convey this message. But a working paper from the National Bureau of Economic Research strongly suggests critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills often associated with science, tech and math is transferable to any industry.

By 2021, job candidates who possess skills in data science and analytics — or DSA — will be more than twice as likely to be hired as those who don't.
That's according to an April 2017 Business-Higher Education Forum report titled “Investing in America's Data Science and Analytics Talent: The Case for Action."
In addition, only about one out of every four university leaders can guarantee that their graduates will have DSA skills, the report states.

Some years ago, a Ph.D. holder with a successful nonacademic career told me how her postdoc supervisor gave her permission to leave the lab. After watching the trainee become more and more dispirited by repetitive experiments, the lab chief gently told her, "You know, my dear, there's more to life than this" — words that liberated the young scientist to pursue totally different, and ultimately very satisfying, endeavors.
