Willis & the CIAB: Rates & a Softening Market
Willis Group Holdings released a report last week predicting a big drop in commercial property rates in North America through the rest of the year. Willis' Marketplace Realities Spring Update says look for a fall off of 12.5 percent to 15 percent. Capacity and few catastrophe losses are to blame.
This goes for insurance and reinsurance.

Update: The Judge, Greenberg & the AIG Federal Takeover Suit
Experts watching the Maurice "Hank" Greenberg and Starr International suit — on what was more or less a federal government's takeover of AIG in 2008 — say Greenberg and all may prevail. The suit contends the bailout of AIG cost the company's stockholders — of which Greenberg and Starr were major players — $25 billion in losses.

Uber: Scores a Win in Kansas
Ridesharing firms like Uber and Lyft have been under siege by regulators in cities and states for the last year. Most want them to be responsible and be accountable like taxi firms, have business licenses, etc.

Republicans and ObamaCare
No one really knows how the U.S. Supreme Court is going to rule when it finally decides whether it is legal for the federal government to give Medicaid subsidies for health insurance on its exchange HealthCare.gov. The suit before it is based on the law's statement that states — via exchanges — can give the subsidies but it doesn't say the federal government can.
ObamaCare Repeal? Not Likely — Ever
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — ObamaCare — is here to stay. It will never, ever go away. We know, you've heard the blustering from Republican opponents about repeal since the law was passed and complaints from business, but it's just not likely to really go away.
