Lazydays' new CEO seeks to shift RV dealership into high gear

Tim Sheehan spent 28 years focused on TVs, computers and electronics as a salesman and executive for Best Buy. Last year, he became CEO at Lazydays. During his first eight months, the company revamped its website, replaced the phone system at its 126-acre campus in Seffner and opened a call center. Up next? Plans to add locations up north to expand Lazydays' reach and boost revenue, now at about $500 million a year.

At the Mid-America RV Show, this year's models emphasize homeyness

Step into some of the RV trailers at the Mid-America RV Show this year, and it's bound to feel more like you're stepping into a residence. In fact, sales manager Shawn Wiegers of Liberty RV in Liberty, MO, an RVDA member, expects to hear more people than usual say, "This is nicer than our home." That "wow factor" is what RV manufacturers are hoping for.

Jayco adding 60 new jobs with toy hauler expansion
The Elkhart Truth
Continued growth in toy hauler sales is spurring Jayco to expand and create new jobs. The company announced it has relocated manufacturing operations of its toy hauler travel trailers and fifth wheels to a 55,000-square-foot facility on its main campus. The expansion has already created 30 new jobs, with another 30 expected over the next 12 months.

Boy gets his wish: A new camper to see the sights
The Herald & Review
Three-year-old Mykael Welke, ill with an extremely rare form of cancer, was given the choice of a camper or a trip to California to meet the Power Rangers. The little boy was "gung-ho about the camper," says his mother. The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Fourwinds of America, an RVDA member, found the family a Forest River 29-foot travel trailer, and now the boy and his sisters and parents plan to visit area sites as soon as the weather permits.

The lavish tour bus, previously used by Formula One World Champion Jenson Button and Jacques Villeneuve, has been transformed into a luxury getaway motorhome that costs $12,000 per night. It reaches speed of 100 mph, not surprising considering that its three former owners were all Formula One racers.
