The 2015 CalRVDA Conference will feature a roundtable discussion featuring Bob Martin, president and CEO of Thor Industries; Doug Gaeddert, GM of Forest River Inc; and Derald Bontrager, president and CEO of Jayco. RVDA President Phil Ingrassia will also discuss the state of the RV industry. Register now for the conference, slated for Feb. 18-19 at the Agua Caliente Resort, Rancho Mirage, CA.

With its recent gift of $25,000, the Newmar Corporation has given $210,000 of its $260,000 pledge to the Mike Molino RV Learning Center. The Nappanee, IN-based manufacturer's sustained giving keeps it at the top of the Learning Center’s Major Donors category. "Newmar's level of commitment is extraordinary," says RV Learning Center chairman Jeff Pastore. "They continue to top the list of current contributors, and we dealers owe them a debt of gratitude for their sustaining support."

Ford F-150 launch, sales going strong

The first full month of sales for the new aluminum truck bodes well for Ford. Toward the end of last year, Ford started rolling its new all-aluminum F-150 truck off its production lines. F-Series trucks, which include the F-150, sold 54,370 units last month, up nearly 17 percent from a year earlier.

Proposed National Park Service budget includes new youth outreach and maintenance initiatives
American Recreation Coalition
The National Park Service plans to step up its efforts to get Americans to visit the nation’s parks. The agency's budget request includes $20 million to transport urban youth to national parks, as well as an increase in its Centennial Challenge program to reduce the backlog of deferred maintenance in parks. Hearings on the FY2016 budget will begin shortly. More details about the youth outreach efforts will be released over the next several weeks.

Effective warranty management for improved CSI and profitability

Some 75 percent of companies say effective warranty management is very important to their financial performance, according to a survey by Strategies For Growth, a Westtown, PA-based research analyst and consulting firm. Forty percent of survey respondents plan to increase their warranty budgets this year, driven by a desire to increase customer retention and satisfaction. RV dealers can improve their warranty processes through the warranty administrator certification program offered by the RV Learning Center.

RV boom stimulates industrial, residential construction
Goshen News
There's a construction boom in Elkhart County — 22 building permits for projects totaling $55.5 million were issued last year, and 2015 is expected to be another good year. Among the companies benefiting from the boom is Ancon Construction, which is currently erecting a manufacturing plant for Keystone RV. "It's definitely a building on steroids," says Ancon's Gary Wetzel of the 175-foot clear-span building.

With small businesses in mind, Congress pushes new rules for rule makers

Republicans in Congress are pushing legislation that would give federal regulators a taste of their own medicine, so to speak, requiring agencies to jump through a few extra hoops before implementing new rules that could harm small businesses. The House Judiciary Committee approved the so-called Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act, which would require federal agencies to identify and consider the indirect consequences of proposed regulation on small businesses, not merely direct consequences.
