Arizona's RV parks report upswing in business

Snowbirds have arrived at Arizona's recreational vehicle parks in greater numbers than last year, according to the Arizona Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds. The industry group is reporting that private parks are reporting increases in occupancy from 10 percent to 30 percent, with many out of town visitors extending their stays into March and April. More

The generosity of a Gastonia veteran has resulted in the USO of North Carolina being able to use an RV to serve military troops across the state. John Goff, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, donated the 34-foot RV. More

Families everywhere dream of taking a year off and traveling around the United States. The Bacon family actually did it. They packed up a 40-foot Monaco Knight diesel RV and visited all the American icons from Mount Rushmore to Kitty Hawk to the OK Corral. Parents Beth and Dan Bacon homeschooled the children while on the road. Along the way, they handed out t-shirts with a picture of the United States made out of bacon and created an extensive Web site. More

The gate swung open to the Twin Lakes Travel Park on Friday afternoon, but the entry was blocked by pure insanity. Steve Kline, in a No. 9 jersey, hoisted a bead- and feather-trimmed umbrella out into the roadway, blocking a car carrying two Colts fans from entering the RV park. Work was the last thing on the minds of the dozens of New Orleans Saints loyalists who staked claims on the asphalt parking strips at the Twin Lakes Travel Park. Park management said they estimated they had checked in 40 trailers from the New Orleans area. More
