Employers set the job requirements and only pay for candidates who meet them. General Electric CEO Jeffrey Immelt coming to Elkhart to meet with RV industry leaders

One of the business world's most well-known CEOs plans to visit Elkhart in late February to talk with RV industry leaders. Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of behemoth conglomerate General Electric, will sit down with RV industry officials in Elkhart "at the end of the month," according to Tim Hyland, RV Group president of GE Capital's Commercial Distribution Finance unit. GE Capital is the nation's largest lender to RV dealers, providing the capital they need to buy RVs from manufacturers before selling them to customers.

Campers and RVs provide convenience for Mardi Gras

While most people who attend Mardi Gras have the worries of parking, a sober ride, or bad weather conditions, having a camper or RV at Cajun Field can be a convenience. "Mardi Gras in Lafayette is awesome, so being able to bring my RV here and have all the comforts of home is just a wonderful experience," says Keith Simon, Breaux Bridge resident. Simon sets up his camper at festivals all across the country and has been bringing his RV to the Mardi Gras parade in Lafayette for years.

Patrick Industries buys RV supplier Better Way
Plastics News
Building products producer and distributor Patrick Industries Inc. continues to ride the vigorous RV market in Indiana. The firm announced that it has acquired Better Way Partners LLC, which does business as Better Way Products, a major maker of fiberglass components for RV, marine, and transit vehicle markets, for about $40 million. The purchase "is a natural fit with our other recently acquired fiberglass operations," said Patrick Industries President and CEO Todd Cleveland.

Airstream's trip began in LA area

Airstreams have been around since 1929 when Wally Byam, a onetime advertising manager for the Los Angeles Times, built the first one. The Torpedo Car Cruiser was a stylish "bring-your-own-accommodations" trailer. The growth of the auto industry and the resulting highways helped fuel Byam's dream. Manufacturing began in the early 1930s out of a small building in nearby Culver City.
