RV/MH Hall of Fame announces class of 2013
RV/MH Hall of Fame
The board of directors of the RV/MH Heritage Foundation has announced the names of those who will be inducted into the RV/MH Hall of Fame as the class of 2013. The induction ceremonies will be held at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart, IN, during the annual induction dinner on Aug. 5.

Ford boosts chassis, engine production capacity to meet rising demand for motorhomes

Ford is increasing Class A motorhome and commercial chassis production capacity by 35 percent to meet renewed demand for recreational vehicles as the U.S. economy and consumer confidence grows. It's also increasing production capacity of its 6.8-liter V10 gasoline engine used in the Class A motorhome lineup.

Navistar RV could be sold by struggling truck maker

Lisle, Ill-based Navistar is considering selling off its Navistar RV business as it tries to focus on its core businesses. Navistar bought the former Monaco Coach in 2009 following Monaco's bankruptcy and moved all operations to Wakarusa, IN, in 2011. Last year it rebranded the company Navistar RV. Company officials have been looking at formal offers for Navistar RV, which offers the Monaco, Holiday Rambler and R-Vision lines, produced in Wakarusa and Elkhart.

RV sellers offering more for less this year

Potential RV owners can get more product for less money, and RV buyers seem to be skewing younger. Those were the two themes that emerged at the annual Utah Sportsman's, Vacation and RV Show. Catherine and Cliff Mock of Clearfield, UT, were among those younger buyers. Catherine Mock said some of her greatest experiences growing up involved camping, and she wants to give her daughter the same kind of experience.

Winnebago tops 2012 motorhome sales

Winnebago pronounced itself the top motorhome manufacturer in 2012, edging out Thor Industries. Winnebago built more Class A and Class C motorhomes in 2012, with 20.6 market share, up from 19 percent in 2011, according to the company.

Parks seeing rise in visits

Visits to Grand Teton National Park rose nearly 5 percent in 2012. And more of those tourists decided to camp rather than stay in park lodges, according to 2012 visitation information released by the National Park Service. With 2.71 million visitors, Grand Teton was the eighth most-visited national park. Yellowstone, with 3.45 million visitors, was the fourth most-frequented national park. The most popular national park in 2012 was Great Smoky Mountain in North Carolina and Tennessee, with 9.7 million visitors. Grand Canyon (4.42 million visitors), Yosemite (3.85 million), Yellowstone (3.45 million) and Rocky Mountain (3.23 million) national parks were the top five.

RV show in Atlantic City helps Sandy victims find homes

VideoBriefHundreds of campers, trailers and just about any type of mobile living unit you could imagine packed the Atlantic City Convention Center over Presidents' Day weekend for the 18th annual RV show. Marybeth Tedesco, a show manager from GS Media and Events, said "some RV dealers have had people from Hurricane Sandy buy RVs because their homes are gone."
