Lender groups press CFPB to admit mistakes
WardsAuto
A coalition representing vehicle lenders says a federal agency should admit it is wrong. In a letter to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the coalition asks the agency to address its alleged bias and error in an analysis it uses to determine whether disparate impact, or unintentional discrimination, exists in a lender’s portfolio. The coalition says the methodology is flawed, yet the bureau keeps relying on it. RVDA, NADA, and others support efforts in Congress to reform the CFPB methodology.

Google and Apple fight for the future of vehicle dashboards
The New York Times
When Google hosted a boot camp this month for its Android operating system, there were some new faces in the room: auto manufacturers. They made the trip to learn about Android Auto, a new dashboard system meant to let a smartphone power a car’s center screen to perform tasks as varied as navigation, communication, and music apps. A similar scene is playing out just a few miles down the road at Apple, where a rival system, CarPlay, has been developed for iPhone users.

Drew Industries reports strong net sales in 2014
CNN Money
Drew Industries, a leading supplier of RV components, reported net income of $12 million for its fourth quarter, compared to net income of $11.1 million for the fourth quarter of 2013. The company’s strong net sales "demonstrate the effectiveness of our long-term strategy," said Drew CEO Jason Lippert. The RV industry experienced a solid year in 2014 as consumer confidence improved and retail demand for RVs grew 8 percent from 2013. Retail demand was particularly strong in the fourth quarter of 2014, increasing 15 percent compared to the fourth quarter of 2013, said Lippert. “In response, manufacturers produced more RVs in 2014 than any year since 2006."

Gas prices may entice more RV tourists to Alaska
Peninsula Clarion
Lower gas prices are encouraging more travelers to drive RVs to Alaska, where tourism officials are expecting another record-breaking year for visitors. Kenai Peninsula Tourism Marketing Council Executive Director Shanon Hamrick says she's seen a shift from out-of-state plates on the road to rental RVs. And Jerry Dunn, owner of the Beluga Lookout Lodge and RV Park in Kenai, says his guests book up to a year in advance to reserve a spot in July during dip net season. "July is absolutely crazy — the amount of people here is unreal," he says. If gas prices continue to stay below $3 a gallon, he expects to see more motorhomes.

From a family of 14 to a single lady, these people quit life to hit the road in an RV
Yahoo Travel
"Not all who wander are lost," J.R.R. Tolkien once wrote, and wandering is currently in vogue. People are quitting jobs, selling belongings, and hitting the road to live and travel in RVs. In fact, RVing has become a movement of sorts. According to a study, nearly one in 12 vehicle-owning U.S. households owns an RV — that’s more than 8.9 million people with a house on wheels.

Words can boost or block your business
By Fred Berns
"To be successful, you have to be unique," Walt Disney once said. "You have to be so different that, if people want what you have, they have to come to you to get it." Establishing your uniqueness and differentiating your company depends a lot on the words on your website. Take a careful look at the homepage — can visitors tell how special you are in four seconds and two clicks? Here are the right — and wrong — words to use there.
