Free safety webinar: Service bay or man cave?
Mike Molino RV Learning Center
Dealers, take a look at your service bays and ask yourself, "Is this a workspace or a giant man cave?" Experts say employers should maintain control of workplace conditions for safety's sake. A free webinar tomorrow, Feb. 27, will feature an engineer as he evaluates a technician's bay and comments on potential safety issues. If you can't attend the live event, which begins at noon EST, register anyway to receive access to the materials later. This free webinar is provided by the Mike Molino RV Learning Center through a partnership with KPA, and dealers’ participation helps the Learning Center develop new programs.

2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel exceeds early sales expectations
Automobile Magazine
Ram says it received more than 8,000 orders for the EcoDiesel within three days of opening up orders. Production started this month, and trucks will ship to consumers next month. Ram points out that many buyers who ordered an EcoDiesel have already paid for the vehicle, despite not having test-driven the truck when equipped with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel V-6 engine. "The Ram 1500 is the only half-ton truck available with a diesel, so we see this as incremental business by having the only truck that can offer best-in-class fuel economy of 28 mpg combined with 9,200 lbs. of towing capacity," said Ram President and CEO Reid Bigland.

The MINI meets an Airstream
AutoWeek via MSN Autos
Makers of the popular MINI Cooper have paired one of the diminutive cars with a 22-foot long Airstream trailer and given the odd couple a watersports theme. One side of the trailer opens into a sunbathing bed, and its exterior is partially wrapped in neoprene, the synthetic rubber used for wet suits, in homage to surfing. The MINI's seats, dashboard and side paneling are also made of neoprene, and its exterior has a black-with-green-trim paint job, giving it a wetsuit look. Of course, there's a roof rack for surfboards.

Las Vegas leader of global online scheme gets 7 years in prison
Las Vegas Review-Journal
The Las Vegas leader of an Eastern European organized crime ring was sentenced to federal prison for an Internet scam that defrauded millions of dollars from people who thought they were buying items such as cars, boats and RVs online. The conspirators listed phony merchandise on eBay, Craigslist and AutoTrader at attractive prices, claiming the sellers were either unemployed, facing military deployment or had suffered a death in the family. Would-be buyers were given sham websites and told their money would be held in escrow until they received the goods, which they never did. One victim who answered an ad for an RV on Craigslist lost $14,300 to the scheme.

Winnebago honors 1st 50-year worker
Mason City Globe Gazette
Fifty years ago, Harlan Rodberg only intended to work at the Winnebago plant until spring farm work started up again. But the 19-year-old "fell in love with the place and the people" and ended up staying. Now the company is celebrating its first 50-year employee with an open house. "It doesn't seem like that long," Rodberg said on a recent break from the assembly line. Even now, he can recall company highlights, like when the trailer blueprints were destroyed in a fire and employees had to build units from memory.

What it takes to be the boss
By Michael J. Berens
Who wouldn't want to be the boss? You get to call the shots and tell everyone what to do. You get a nice office, an even nicer paycheck and all those perks. It turns out, though, not as many employees as you might think aspire to being the boss. Fewer than 1-in-4, according to a Pew Research Center report. That figure is all the more surprising given that bosses express higher levels of job satisfaction than do workers, are as likely to maintain work/life balance and are more satisfied with their home life as well.
