Small to medium businesses prep for EMV shift: How ready is your business?
Fox Small Business
Most small businesses in the United States are unaware that they must upgrade their point-of-sale terminals to accept the chip-based credit cards – known as EMV cards – now used in Europe, Australia, and Canada, according to studies. The United States is the last industrialized nation relying on antiquated and easily copied magnetic stripe technology, and as a result, 50 percent of global fraud occurs here. Why consumers are shouting 'road trip!'
CSP Magazine
A strengthening economy and cheaper gas prices are contributing to a record increase in annual miles driven. According the Federal Highway Administration’s most recent report, 2014 saw a 5 percent year-over-year jump in travel, hitting 251.4 billion miles. One indication that the trend may continue through 2015: In Texas, which is responsible for 10 percent of gasoline sales in the United States, receipts of motor fuel taxes for February 2015 rose 6 percent compared to February 2014.
