KOA report details how camping is changing
Chicago Tribune
Younger campers say having a smartphone on a camping trip is nearly as important as toilet paper, according to the 2015 North American Camping Report, which was conducted by the Cairn Consulting Group and sponsored by Kampgrounds of America. In fact, access to free Wi-Fi ranks among the top three most important camping amenities, right behind clean bathrooms and kid-friendly campgrounds. Nearly all campers bring their cellphones, and half report going online at least once a day. The report says campers — especially teens — use social media to share their experiences in real time rather than waiting until they get home.

Buffett: Dealer distribution model strong
Wall Street Journal
Billionaire investor Warren Buffett is looking to expand his newly acquired auto chain, the 81-store Van Tuyl Group, saying he’s in the car business for the long haul. And he shrugged off Tesla Motors’ efforts to bypass dealers and sell electric cars directly to consumers, saying he doesn’t believe it will challenge the traditional dealership model. "When a distribution system becomes that firmly established, there's a reason for it," he said. "I don’t see it changing."

The RV industry is thriving, getting younger
CNBC
Today’s RVer is younger and more physically active than in the past. In fact, the fastest-growing cohort of RV owners in 2013 was the 35- to 44-year-old segment. The average RV owner in the 1980s was 50, compared to 48 today. RV parks are catering to this shift by offering more gyms, fitness classes, walking trails and bike rentals, says RV park owner Ray Champagne.

How good old American marketing saved the national parks
National Geographic
When the poorly supervised and neglected national parks were in dire straits 100 years ago, superintendents decided that the best hope for preserving America's great spaces was to get more people out to see them. Personal experiences with nature would inspire people's loyalty to the parks, reasoned the superintendents. Now, almost 100 years later, officials are once again grappling with the issue of keeping the parks relevant to the public.

"We like to get out in our little RV and just be simple. I love to read, I love to cook, I love to be with my husband," she says.
