Recreation community urges recreation enhancement, not just fees
American Recreation Coalition
The American Recreation Coalition recently told a Congressional committee that it supports user fees but is concerned about a lack of focus on improving federal recreation sites. ARC told the House Committee on Natural Resources that rec fees should be retained and used by the sites and activities that generate them. CCAD students design prototype live-work studio for Airstream
Columbus Business First
On the outside, the 23-foot trailer looks like a typical Airstream. But the inside is a mobile live-work studio designed and built by Columbus College of Art & Design students whose mission was to redesign an iconic brand to appeal to Millennials. The students approached the company offering to “reimagine how your product could be used or viewed by a younger, hipper demographic,” says CCAD President Denny Griffith. Airstream CEO Bob Wheeler was hip enough to agree. “This brand has survived for 83 years only by reinventing itself for each generation,” Wheeler says. “If this is going to be relevant for future workers, it needed to be something designed by them that would appeal to them.”

Since the late 1990s, Sisters on the Fly (sistersonthefly.com) has been RVing in vintage trailers, telling tall tales around campfires, and having “more fun than anyone,” says founder Maurrie Sussman. It started with Sussman and her sister, Becky Clark, who loved camping and fly fishing and wanted to share the experience with their friends. The friends now number more than 4,500 across the United States, Canada, England, and Australia, and they range in age from 21 to 93.

The Elkhart Truth

1 core principle of social media marketing
By Linchi Kwok
If there’s one core principle that can be applied to any business in social media marketing, it’s this: Listen and respond to your customers. They leave footprints and valuable, free information through their conversations on social media websites. Collect that rich consumer data — it could tell you what they like or dislike about a product or service, who actually buys and uses the product, and which sites are the best for reaching your target customers.

Report: Sales trajectory could make Ram number two in pickup sales
Truck Trend
The sales pecking order for full-size trucks has been Ford, Chevy, Dodge (or, more recently, Ram) for the better part of the past three decades. But if trends continue, that established convention may be in for an upset. The Wall Street Journal analyzed sales among the Detroit Three to see if Ram's success was just a short-term flash-in-the-pan or a sustained trend that could see Chrysler's truck brand surpas

Business owners: 10 things you need to do before migrating off Windows XP
Forbes
Microsoft ceased user support and security updates for its hugely popular XP operating system beginning March 8, leaving those who are still using the system vulnerable to hacker attacks and data loss. Despite warnings, 36 percent of XP users plan to keep at least one of their devices running on XP. For small businesses with limited IT resources, the percentage is even higher. But not updating is simply not an option. Small businesses need to install a newer operating system like Windows 7, 8.1, or swap over their systems entirely to a Microsoft competitor like Apple or Google.
