Congressman says CFPB plan on vehicle loans is a lemon
The Wall Street Journal via Rep. John Campbell
Rep. John Campbell, R-CA, calls new guidance issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau "a noxious attempt to solve a problem that doesn't exist and is likely to make a mess of one part of the consumer-loan industry that works." RVDA and other motor vehicle dealer groups, including the National Automobile Dealers Association, also question the CFPB's actions. Campbell is chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Monetary Policy and Trade.

Michigan governor signs MARVAC-backed bill on doc fees
MARVAC/WinCountry
Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder signed into law legislation authorizing towable RV dealers to charge document preparation fees in installment sale contracts for nonmotorized RVs. Previously, document fees weren't permitted for towable RVs. "A special thanks to Dave Haylett of Haylett Auto & RV of Coldwater, who worked with his state representative, Ken Kurtz, to sponsor the legislation," said MARVAC Director Bill Sheffer. "Dave testified several times on behalf of the association and his fellow dealer members, explaining to legislators the process and documentation that takes place when selling motor vehicles and towable RVs."

RV dealers: How satisfied are you with your manufacturers?
RVDA
RVDA's 20th annual Dealer Satisfaction Index survey was emailed to all dealer members April 26 and responses are already pouring in. Make sure your opinion gets heard by completing and returning this confidential survey promptly. Many manufacturers use the results when developing policies that affect dealers, so it's important for all dealers to participate. The DSI measures retailers' attitudes about manufacturer performance in key areas, including sales, product design and pricing, parts, overall communication and more. The survey can be accessed online using your member password.

A love of vintage: happy owners gather to share love of old trailers
Chico Enterprise-Record
Proud owners displayed 80 lovingly maintained and refurbished vintage trailers and dozens of beautiful vehicles in the sold-out, fourth annual "Rally on the River" in Woodson Bridge, CA. The stars of the event — the vintage trailers — sat in the shade looking better, probably, than the day they rolled off the showroom floor. Some had been lovingly tended since they were new, but others had to be rescued from the brink of destruction. Joe Clarke discovered his 1954 Ken-skill trailer literally seconds before it was scheduled to be pounded into fragments by an earth mover.

RV show off to fast start
South Bend Tribune
What's not to like? These days, that pretty much sums up everything in the RV business. RVIA reported that March shipments of 28,923 units were up 2.8 percent over March of last year, and were 10.7 percent better than February of this year. It's no surprise to Dave Titus, owner/manager of International RV in Elkhart. The spring show at the RV/MH Hall of Fame was only 90 minutes old, and Titus already had sold one RV.

Firefly Music Festival camping spots, hotels selling out quickly
The News Journal
Even the hardiest, most caffeinated partiers at the Firefly Music Festival at Dover International Speedway need to crash at some point. But with attendance certain to surpass, and maybe even double, the 30,000 who came in 2012, many festivalgoers are running into serious challenges finding a place to sleep. That's because campsites and most nearby hotels have sold out during the June 21-23 weekend. Some RVers have snagged prime spots inside the oval racetrack.
