Jim Jacobs takes helm at Allied Recreation Group

Allied Specialty Vehicles announced this week that Jim Jacobs has been named president of Allied Recreation Group (ARG), effective June 1. ARG produces Class A and Class C motorized RVs under four brands –­ American Coach, Fleetwood RV, Holiday Rambler, and Monaco. "Jim is a recognized leader in the recreational vehicle industry, and I'm honored that he’s joining ARG in this capacity," said Tim Sullivan, ASV president and CEO. Jacobs will report directly to Sullivan and focus on enhancing operational efficiencies and increasing market share and sales revenue.

Last call for RV Learning Center scholarship applications

The deadline to apply for the RV Learning Center’s college scholarship is next Wednesday,
June 3. Dealership employees and their dependents are eligible to apply for the stipend, which is awarded each year to an undergrad in a business-related major who wants to work in the RV industry.

Study links camping to happy, healthy children

Children who camp in the great outdoors at least once a year are healthier and happier and do better in school — at least, according to their parents. A study carried out by a British university and an RVing club found that four out of five parents believe camping has a positive effect on their children’s school performance. Almost all of the parents say camping makes their kids appreciate nature, increases their confidence and independence, and provides a needed break from technology.

RVRA member Neff Bros. RV has new location

Neff Bros. RV has completed its cross-town move from the Lorain (OH) Industrial Park on the city's far west side to the southeast area of the city at 4500 Grove Ave. The building is the former Joe Firment Chevrolet. The new location is "about two and a half times what we had before," said 73-year-old Bill Neff, company vice president and co-founder with his brother, Ralph Neff, 68, who is company president. Bill Neff's daughter, Angela Dudziak, also is co-owner and general manager of the business.
