Spied: 2017 GM Silverado and Sierra prototypes
PickupTrucks.com
GM pickup truck engineers have been relatively quiet while Ford and Ram Truck have been making news lately with their new products. But a media photographer recently got a peek at GM’s Silverado and Sierra prototypes while they were doing towing tests on the road. He says GM’s goal is to bump up the trucks’ horsepower and torque to counter Ford's recently upgraded 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 turbo-diesel engine.

RVDA urges House to pass CFPB reform bill
RVDA
RVDA and its industry allies sent a letter to members of Congress this month urging passage of a bill that would rescind the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's guidance on indirect auto financing. The measure (H.R. 1737) would also require the CFPB to consult with the Federal Reserve Board, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Justice before it issues any future guidance and to make public the data and analyses that it uses.

Trade pact could help RV manufacturers
South Bend Tribune
American RV manufacturers could see a drop in production costs if President Obama approves the Generalized System of Preference program. Senate action is expected this week on the bill to renew the program, which has bipartisan support. The program would, among other things, eliminate duties on luan plywood, which RV manufacturers use extensively. Reducing the tariff could save the average RV manufacturer anywhere from $140,000 to $400,000 per month.

Why scientists are tracking how humans move through national parks
The Associated Press via Mashable
Scientists are putting tracking devices on a new species — people — as they try to learn more about how their movements affect ecosystems in national parks. Park visitors carrying global positioning devices have provided data to Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park so it can improve shuttle service to a popular and often congested lake. "It's about getting people to the right place at the right time, so they have a better experience while they're at the park," says a park official.

Is there a small-talk gender gap?
Fast Company
According to a new study, men do better in business negotiations if they engage in a little chitchat beforehand. Small talk about the weather, travel, and other nonbusiness related topics apparently help men seem friendlier and more trustworthy. “Even a little small talk contributed to getting a better deal,” according to the study. Women, on the other hand, gained no particular advantage by using small talk, perhaps because they’re expected to do so.
