First-time U.S. Olympic fencer Courtney Hurley will have moral support from her sister, former Olympic fencer Kelly Hurley, when Courtney competes in London. The two come from a family of fencers — their parents met in a fencing club and now coach and manage their daughters' training. "We would travel around Texas in our RV for family trips to all the local tournaments," Courtney says. She and sis would "run around as toddlers" while their parents fenced other adults. More

The ride of a lifetime
PhillyBurbs.com via NBCNews.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Phil Cooper may be riding a bicycle in an arduous cross-country fundraiser for multiple sclerosis, but at the end of the day, it's his RV that makes the journey bearable. Cooper rises at 6 a.m. and starts pedaling, averaging 65 miles a day. Afterward, he retreats to his 27-foot long RV that hauls a 12-foot trailer for his bikes. "The RV is a huge part of the trip," he says. "It has a 42-inch TV, refrigerators, and can carry two kegs of beer. It's a party vehicle that we use to unwind following each long day of riding." More

How to justify a vacation when you're self-employed
Mashable via Yahoo News    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Vacations are one of the world's best stress busters and can cut the risk of heart attacks by 30 percent in men and by 50 percent in women. Europe, Australia and Brazil require four to five weeks off by law. The United States, on the other hand, is one of the few developed countries that has no federal law mandating employee vacation time. After you stop fretting about what's happening without you, you'll be amazed at the effect a vacation can have on your business. Time off can open the flood gates to fresh perspectives and inspiration — while traveling in Mexico, Eric Stumberg hatched the idea for TengoInternet, now the largest wireless Internet provider to campgrounds and RV parks. RV comeback still rolling
South Bend Tribune    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
No matter how you look at it, things are trending up now and for the foreseeable future in the RV industry. That's important to Elkhart County and the state of Indiana. The industry employs more than 24,000 people in Elkhart County, including RV manufacturers and suppliers. Northern Indiana builds 82 percent of all RVs in the United States. And the industry's rebound is reflected in how much the unemployment rate has fallen in Elkhart County. From 18.3 percent unemployment in January 2009, the rate now is down to 8.9 percent. More

Major players in a rebounding and under analyzed industry
Seeking Alpha    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
The RV industry is strengthening, and this analyst discusses several of the major manufacturers who are most likely to benefit. RVs remain an economical vacation and, more importantly, the demographics are favorable. The age group with the highest percentage of RV ownership is the 55- to 65-year-old group, and that bracket is expected to increase 45 percent over the next 10 years, compared with an 8 percent growth rate for the overall population. Plus, the industry has been doing well — volume rebounded almost 50 percent in 2010, and shipments are currently up 8.6 percent for 2012. More
