Will RV boom stay for years?
South Bend Tribune
The current RV sales boom could continue for as long as 2022, say some industry experts. Factors fueling the boom include hordes of retiring baby boomers, a record-high stock market, and a buyer demographic that's trending younger. Bob Martin, president and CEO of Thor Industries, says the industry is in a good place now and looks strong for the future. Barring any unforeseen blips, "we see slow and steady growth for the industry for many years to come."

Burning Man brings business to Reno RV renters
Reno Gazette-Journal
The Burning Man festival, which annually draws tens of thousands to the desert outside of Reno, brings millions in revenue to local businesses, especially those that rent RVs. "Burning Man is a major part of our business," says Reno dealer Richard Dixon of Classic Adventures RV Sales and Rentals, an RVDA member dealership. While he won't disclose his rental revenue, he says about 80 percent of his fleet was reserved for Burning Man by February. "Typically, we get somewhere between 250 to 350 customers just in that week," he says.

Keep RVDA's convention affordable — stay at the convention hotels
RVDA
RVDA negotiates with the convention hotel to get the best possible rate for meeting rooms and expo space, and that rate is partially determined by the number of hotel room nights the association can guarantee. If RVDA doesn't hit its minimum, the association pays more for the meeting room rentals. Every hotel room counts — the penalty for unfilled rooms can cost the association thousands of dollars and hurts its ability to negotiate pricing for future years. So please book your rooms at either Bally's or Paris. Whether you book through RVDA's convention site, an Internet provider, or the hotel itself, your stay will count as long as RVDA has your information on the hotel card that attendees are asked to fill out at the convention registration desk.

Local hotel closure stresses incoming Baylor families
Baylor Lariat
The sudden closure of a local hotel near Baylor University just days before Move In Week threw some families into a panic as they scrambled to find alternate arrangements. Not RVing families, though. Darrell Caldwell says he stays in RV parks in Waco instead of searching for hotels so he'll have a guaranteed place to stay when he wants to visit his daughter or watch Baylor football games. When his kids started going off to college, he says, "We rented RVs, every possible kind, before deciding what we wanted to buy." Having his own RV not only releases him from worrying about cancellations but also lets him tailgate during Baylor games.
