Can investors win with Winnebago and Thor?
The Motley Fool
This popular investing site is bullish on Winnebago, calling it "a glittering brand with financial results to match," and Thor, which has been "profitable for more than 30 consecutive years." While Winnebago isn't the largest RV manufacturer, "it has a long-standing reputation for quality, earning the Quality Circle Award from RVDA every year since 1996." And Thor, which is the largest RV manufacturer in the world, recently released preliminary sales results for its fourth quarter and for the full year — both were record performances.

Elkhart County a leader in GDP gain
The Goshen News
Elkhart-Goshen's GDP grew by 11.4 percent in 2012, one of the top gains in the country. Much of the growth was fueled by an increase in manufacturing. Local RV makers, including Keystone RV Co. and Dutchmen Manufacturing Inc., have been rebounding since the recession of 2007, and RV suppliers, including Lippert Components Inc. in Goshen, are all up as well. "When the economy is good, we're leading the parade and when that happens, everything else in Elkhart County responds accordingly," says Chamber of Commerce president David Daugherty. "It's more fun to lead the parade when it comes back. The continued growth should be good for the next couple of years."

Fall's here — Time to winterize your RV
Nulty Insurance via PRWeb
RVs for the most part are seasonal vehicles. In Michigan, winter can be cold and long — and for many residents, the difference between a costly maintenance bill in the spring and an RV that's ready to go is their winterization preparation. Winterization is one of the most significant things when it comes to prolonging the life and enjoyment of a vehicle. Here are general tips for winterizing.

Florida man to be featured on 'Extreme RVs'
WJHG-TV
Tim Heintz got into RV restoration for fun. He's since turned it into a business that's gaining national attention. As the CEO of Heintz Designs Vintage Trailer Restorations in Panama City, FL, he's restored dozens of RVs. "It's a bad hobby to get into because you can't stop at just one. I have nine trailers in my collection alone," he says. Heintz caught the eye of Travel Channel's "Extreme RVs" series, whose producers recently taped an entire episode in his shop that shows the restoration of a very rare 1957 airfloat.

Overall Midwest consumer prices rose, but transportation, fuel costs dropped
The Elkhart Truth
Although natural gas, clothes, housing and medical care all cost Midwesterners at least 2 percent more in August than a year ago, the good news is that gasoline cost 5.3 percent less, and the non-gasoline cost of transportation was down 1.3 percent over the same period. That's according to information compiled by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
