Skyline responds to Cavco offer
Yahoo! Finance
The board of directors of Skyline Corp. said it was "disappointed" that Phoenix-based Cavco Industries went public this week with a letter accusing Skyline of refusing to respond to Cavco's offer to buy Skyline's RV division. The Skyline board called Cavco's press release "counterproductive" and refuted Cavco's claims that Skyline had ignored its offer. "While the board believes Cavco's Sept. 22 letter significantly undervalues Skyline's stock, the special committee and the board will thoroughly review Cavco's proposals and respond in due course," said a Skyline statement issued Tuesday. Earlier in September, Skyline announced it was exploring a deal for its RV division with Evergreen RV.

How I learned to stop worrying and love RVing
Washington Post
A skeptical travel writer explores the great American West with her family in a rented RV and ends up loving the experience. "Nearly everything about the RV experience was imbued with novelty and built-in humor," she says." And it didn’t hurt that nearly everywhere this camper carried us provided a new adventure or a jawdropping vista. From the moment we picked up the RV, the kids were dying to help with every menial chore, unlike at home.”

Airstream camper marketed to millennials
The Courier-Journal
Recent studies show millennials don't plan to put down roots for a while. They aren't buying homes as often as members of previous generations, and they plan on leaving jobs quicker, searching for the next opportunity within two to five years. Family fun with the top down at unique RV resort
Deseret News
Utah's most unusual RV park is back in business, and that should please people who love to think back to the golden era of movie stars. The Shooting Star RV Resort features retro convertibles and RVs that were used in film shoots during Hollywood’s heyday, when many films were made nearby. In the evening, campers can watch cartoons and features on a giant outdoor screen and buy refreshments at a snack bar in an Airstream trailer. On a recent night, the feature film was, appropriately, "The Great Outdoors," in which the opening line has the John Candy character exclaiming, "Nature all around us, boys! Take it in! Take it all in!"

An RV takes road to energy independence
U-T San Diego
Tim Lemieux lives in an unlikely showcase for green energy – a 1997 Winnebago. Scale a narrow ladder up its side, and a compact rooftop solar farm comes into view. Photovoltaic panels cover the top and even the front hood. They’re linked to a series of batteries that help distill and cool water for drinking. Excess water and power feed an evaporative cooler that keeps the cabin comfy. Lemieux, a retired electronic engineer, has additional innovations in mind and says the ultimate goal is to take the motorhome completely off the grid.
