Sense of pride, determination fuel campground operators
StarNews
It's not entirely the money that keeps family campgrounds in business, according to Barb Krumm, president of the Carolina Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds. The Day
In the travel business, the early-fall period is decidedly off-peak. But this year in the tourist haven of Mystic, CT, it's as if summer never ended. The fall tends to attract people from all over the country, including many traveling by recreational vehicle, according to Sally Foster, who greets visitors at the Greater Mystic Chamber of Commerce's welcome center. "They're from Michigan, Arizona, Oregon," she says of the September-October crowd. "It's a different group of people than we see in the summer. They get along with each other.
