Madison RV Center donates motorhome to aid breast cancer awareness

Marty Shea of Madison RV Center, Huntsville, AL, an RVDA member dealership, donated a pink Winnebago Minnie, dubbed "Pinky," to the Liz Hurley Foundation, a non-profit organization that has raised more than $3 million for breast cancer awareness. Shea made the presentation immediately following the 11th annual Liz Hurley Ribbon Run, gifting the trailer to founder Liz Hurley, a popular news anchor and herself a cancer survivor. "Anybody who knows me knows I hate surprises," Hurley said, "but this is an awesome surprise!" She said Pinky will be used at fund-raising events throughout the year.

Ron and Lisa Fenech contribute an additional $5,000 to RV Learning Center

Ron and Lisa Fenech donated $5,000 to the Mike Molino RV Learning Center recently, bringing their total lifetime contribution to $60,000. Ron Fenech is co-owner of Grand Design RV Company. Contributions to the center allow investments in new technology and upgrades to resources so that learning remains affordable, flexible, and relevant for dealers and their staff. "Longtime donors like the Fenechs are great examples of why this industry prospering — they focus on the future," said RV Learning Center Chairman of the Board Jeff Pastore. "Their generous donation will help us get the ball rolling for fundraising for the coming year."

RVBusiness announces 'Top 50' dealers

The U.S. and Canadian RV retailers slated to receive RVBusiness' 2014 Top 50 Dealer Awards during a Nov. 12 evening reception at the RV Dealers International Convention/Expo in Las Vegas include smaller family-held stores as well as large independent chains. The event will also honor five Blue Ribbon dealers and the winners of the RVB Top 50 Spirit Award and RVB Top 50 Innovation Award. The convention takes place Nov. 10-14 at Bally's on the Las Vegas Strip.

Winnebago rides on strong demand for motorhomes

Winnebago Industries Inc. reported a 22 percent jump in quarterly profit as sales surged due to increased consumer spending on big-ticket items. The company, whose recreational vehicles range in price from about $65,000 to more than $400,000, said it delivered 2,364 motorhomes in the quarter ended Aug. 30, up from 1,890 a year earlier.

Motorhome sales rise, report shows

Sales of travel trailers and motorhomes continue to improve, with demand for some models nearing the peak volume before the recession, a Robert W. Baird & Co. report shows. Dealers reported solid retail trends in motorhome sales, up about 25 percent, and towable trailers, up about 8 percent, from July through September, Baird analyst Craig Kennison noted in the recent report.

RV maker plans to add 150 jobs in Silverton
Portland Business Journal
Forest River Inc. has purchased a 19-acre site in Silverton, OR., and hopes to expand its manufacturing capacity to build its cargo trailer lines, according to the economic development group that helped secure the arrangement. Forest River has several manufacturing facilities in the Midwest and West Coast. The company said the space will help it keep up with orders at its existing facility. It eventually plans to hire 150 workers after hiring 20 new workers initially.
