CFPB chief concedes need for balance in vehicle loan oversight
Automotive News
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Director Richard Cordray told the U.S. Senate Banking Committee that he wants more "openness and transparency" for the agency's oversight of vehicle lending, but added that the CFPB still has strong concerns about how dealerships arrange loans. Cordray appeared to be extending an olive branch to dealers and lenders — "We're going to make sure that we're engaging with key stakeholders in that area," he said. RVDA will attend a CFPB finance forum in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 14 that will further explore issues surrounding dealer-assisted financing.

Coburg RV plant hiring workers in Oregon
The Register-Guard
Marathon Coach Inc., a luxury motorcoach maker, plans to add more than 25 employees to its 125-person workforce in the next six months. Steve Schoellhorn, president and owner of the 30-year-old privately held company, decided it was the right time to add workers because the low inventory of finished new luxury coaches on the market has created pent-up demand, and customers appear to be more optimistic about the economy.

Tailgate starts Friday night at Michigan for dedicated crew
MLive.com
Every Friday night before a home football game at the Big House, the hardiest of the hardy gather in the nearby Pioneer High School parking lot to stake a claim to their piece of asphalt. A small crowd of tailgate regulars — about 35 RVs are staples on the lot — roll out the propane tanks to fend off the 30-degree chill and start cooking a group dinner. Some drive eight hours to be part of the ritual.

Cutting the strings: How to hold your employees accountable
By Harry J. Friedman
Is a good part of your day filled with being pulled in different directions by the demands of your staff and your role as a business owner or manager? Imagine a puppet being pulled by its strings. If you can relate to this scenario, you're not alone. The 80/20 rule of time management: Stop wasting your time
Entrepreneur
Small business owners waste too much of their time on what I call $10-an-hour work, like running to get office supplies. Meanwhile, they forgo the activities that earn $1,000 an hour, such as sending the right email to the right person, or negotiating a lucrative contract, or convincing a client to do more business with you. Entrepreneurs don't realize that the same 80/20 principle — 20 percent of customers account for 80 percent of sales — applies to every dimension of business. And that includes time management.
