FBI: Online fraud costs millions
CBSNews
RV dealers should be aware that phony Internet ads selling big-ticket items — from cars to recreational vehicles — led to nearly 7,000 complaints to the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center and accounted for more than $20 million in losses, the agency says. Victims respond to ads for items with deeply discounted prices and are instructed to wire their money to a fake eBay account. Once the transaction is done, victims are given a fake delivery date. The items never arrive, and since the money was sent by wire, it’s lost.

Motorhoming: What's your price for flight?
Chicago Tribune
It took several days of rain on a family vacation to convert Julianne Vanden Wyngaard from a tent camper to a motorhome owner. "I thought, while cooking outside one wet evening, 'please get me off the ground,' " says the Grand Valley State University faculty member from Grand Rapids, MI. The Vanden Wyngaards started with a 24-foot motorhome, which they used for vacations. Some 10 years ago, anticipating semiretirement and a chance to be snowbirds, they took the plunge and moved lock, stock and barrel into a 42-foot Class A diesel-powered motorhome where they now live year-round.

Airstream, queen of the desert
BBC
Though these glinting gray whales of the highway have been manufactured in the United States since the 1930s, Airstreams are selling at record numbers, with the company reporting a 50 percent increase in revenue for fiscal year 2014. And while Airstream president and CEO Bob Wheeler attributes the growth to such factors as an expanded dealer network, accelerated marketing efforts, and product consistency, it’s the Airstream trailer’s fervent fans that largely underpin the renaissance.

"There's a lot of demand for nostalgia," says Steve Hauser, sales manager of Genesis Supreme RV, makers of the Genesis Classic, a vintage-looking trailer with modern conveniences inside. "A lot of retirees used to go camping when they were kid and have happy memories of that."
