Analyst: Thor earnings could signal rapid demand for motorized RVs
The Motley Fool via Daily Finance
Rev your engines, RV investors. When Thor Industries reports its first quarter results on Dec. 2, the bulk of the sales numbers will come from towables. But ditch the hitch, and pay closer attention to the numbers surrounding its motorized RVs. When Thor announced earlier this month certain preliminary data for the quarter, its motorized RV sales had skyrocketed 44.8 percent to $176.9 million. And the backlog figures were particularly interesting. The motorized portion was up 113 percent over last year and represented 43 percent of the backlog. This suggests demand for motorized RVs is accelerating at a rapid pace.

Family-owned RV dealer sells lifestyle
Albuquerque Journal
With a newly minted MBA from the University of New Mexico, John Myers thought he was ready to jump into the RV retail business, so he and his brother opened Myers RV Center on a lonely stretch of East Central Avenue. "Pretty quickly, you learn that you don't know as much as you thought you knew," says Myers, a former RVDA director. "I learned through a lot of trial and error and by trying not to make the same mistake twice." Luckily, he was a quick study and now, 30 years later, he's preparing his son Jeff to take over.

We've been traveling in our motorhome since 2006 and have stayed in a lot of campgrounds. Most offer the same things, but particular campgrounds stand out in our minds. Take the one where the owner, upon realizing that tree limbs over our wooded campsite would prevent us from using our slide outs, promptly pulled out a saw and trimmed the branches off.

Meditation Museum RV rolls through Maryland for Thanksgiving parade
WTOP-FM
For the past three years, Sister Jenna, director of the Meditation Museum in Silver Spring, MD, participated in the local Thanksgiving parade by driving a classic Mercedes convertible with some of her museum team members. This year, she's ditching the angel wings for a set of big wheels. About a year and a half ago, the museum received an RV as a donation, with the idea that it could be used as a traveling meditation room. Before it takes to the open road, though, Sister Jenna is going to show it off to the local community.
