RV sales growth expected to continue in 2014
Forbes
As RV dealers and manufacturers gather in Louisville for their annual trade show, RVIA forecast RV shipments of 335,000 units in 2014, 6.1 percent higher than this year. That would make five consecutive years of market growth. "RV shipments are growing," said RVIA President Richard Coon. "Consumer confidence is growing, credit is available and RVs are visible, popular and even cool. This is a good time to be in the RV business."

Northern Indiana benefitting from resurgence of RVs
The Associated Press via Indianapolis Business Journal
Thor Industries President Bob Martin and other industry leaders are optimistic that the RV industry rebound will continue. "We're looking at an industry [whose] economics have improved every year since the recession," he says. Martin believes RV sales are expanding beyond the industry's baby boomer base, with younger generations becoming more frequent buyers. He doesn't expect big sales spikes in towable trailers but says they've been returning to prerecession levels and could still have incremental growth. "We're blessed that our customers are loyal to the RV industry and the lifestyle."

Iron Bowl fans braved the cold, celebrated Thanksgiving at RV site
WNCF-TV
Keith Fender has been a life-long Auburn fan, but this was the first year he and his family chose to spend Thanksgiving tailgating in their RV, parked just outside of Jordan-Hare Stadium. "We've got the whole family coming in," he said several days before the game. "We're going to set up some more canopies and have our turkey and dressing right out here." He and his clan also had a big stack of firewood and a large propane heater to fend off the cold. Some relatives don't even bother going to the game — it's the camaraderie of planning, cooking and sharing a communal feast that keeps them coming back year after year.

Exploring tidal shifts at Bay of Fundy
By Michael Charland
My wife and I just concluded a seven-month trip exploring the East Coast of the United States and the eastern provinces of Canada. One of our stops was the Bay of Fundy. Due to its northern location and other factors, the bay is known for some of the world's greatest tidal shifts. We had read about these shifts and the tidal bores and wanted to check them out. Our first stop was St. Andrews, New Brunswick, which is just over the international border. It's a quaint little town that sits on an offshoot of the bay. Our RV park was right next to the water, so we got to see the tidal shifts up close.

But for workers like John Coffer, who spent North Dakota winter months in his RV and once got stuck inside when the door froze, the option to move his camper indoors was a pleasant change.
