A Texas sheriff's deputy died in a hospital Tuesday after being shot multiple times during a traffic stop, authorities said.
Deputy Chris Dickerson, 28, a veteran of the U.S. Army and Texas Army National Guard, had been with the Panola County Sheriff's Office for eight years and was the married father of two young children, the Associated Press reported.

Funeral services have been announced for a Panola County deputy who was killed Tuesday morning in the line of duty.
Visitation for Deputy Chris Dickerson is scheduled for Friday, from 5:30-8 p.m., at the Carthage Civic Center. The funeral is slated for 2 p.m. Saturday, also at the Carthage Civic Center.

Two people were fatally shot and seven others wounded when they were "ambushed" while filming a music video near Houston, authorities said Saturday.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said one of the wounded was in critical condition. He revised the total number of gunshot victims in the Friday night shooting to nine just before 8 a.m. Saturday. Initial reports had the number as two dead and two wounded.

A report out recently from the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund found Texas already led the nation in officer fatalities in 2019. The total was up from 11 deaths last year.
