The law sets aside $10 million in grants that can help law enforcement agencies buy body cameras. Departments that receive the money will have to create policies for the cameras that follow state guidelines and officers will undergo training.

The mother of a Texas teenager known for an "affluenza" defense in a deadly drunken-driving crash he caused will soon be transferred from detention in Los Angeles to the Fort Worth area, Tarrant County Sheriff Dee Anderson said on Wednesday. Tonya Couch, 48, has been charged with third-degree felony for helping her son, Ethan, 18, escape to Mexico, a crime that can bring up to 10 years in prison if she is convicted.

A Marine stationed in Arizona was arrested Tuesday in the fatal shooting early on New Year's Day of a North Texas college student, authorities said. The U.S. Marine Corps said in a statement that Cpl. Eric Johnson, 20, was taken into custody at the north gate of the Marine Corps air station in Yuma, Arizona. Police in Denton said he was arrested on a murder warrant in the death of 20-year-old Sara Mutschlechner.
