The Henderson County Sheriff's Office is investigating after the body of a 24-year-old Tool man was found in a roadside ditch.
The body of Darrell Gene Blankenship, III, was found in a roadside ditch near the entrance of the Sky County Subdivision on Monday morning, according to the sheriff's Office.
The sheriff's office launched a death investigation after a passerby reported finding the body.

Folks in Kleberg County are remembering a longtime lawman in those parts former Sheriff Adan Munoz.
He died Saturday, Jan. 4, and a viewing recently was held in his honor at J.K. Northway Coliseum.
Munoz served as Kleberg County sheriff from 1988-94 and during his tenure, he created the first South Texas narcotics task force.

Guadalupe County: 2019 Employee of the Year awards
Sheriff Arnold Zwicke held his annual Employee Appreciation Luncheon at the Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office. During the celebration, Sheriff Zwicke honored employees with their years of service pins, which were given in increments of five years up to 30 years.
Along with the pins, Sheriff Zwicke also honored the employees that were nominated by his supervisors throughout the department. Fayette County: Mark Zimmerman named Deputy of the 4th Quarter
Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that Deputy Mark Zimmerman has received the award for Deputy of the 4th Quarter through the Fayette County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Zimmerman has been with the Fayette County Sheriff's Office for eight years and has 41 total years in Law Enforcement. His duties at the sheriff's office include being a bailiff at court, as well as inmate transport deputy. He also assists patrol deputies with routine calls for service.
Deputy Zimmerman lives in the Moulton area with his wife, and they have two children.
Sheriff Korenek prides on being able to present this award to deputies throughout the year for their outstanding and selfless service to the communities in Fayette County.

Smith County: Investigators commended by Secret Service
A ceremony was held this morning at the Smith County Sheriff's Office commending Investigators John Partlow and Noel Martin. These two individuals were recognized by Bill Mack who is the Resident Agent in Charge of the Tyler Resident Office of the United States Secret Service. A certificate was presented to both Partlow and Martin citing special recognition for their efforts and superior contributions to the law enforcement responsibilities of the United States Secret Service.
Investigator Partlow was recognized for his tireless efforts in investigating wire fraud, skimming and counterfeiting cases in Smith County. Often, Investigator Partlow's investigative work has assisted law enforcement agencies in Texas as well as other parts of the United States.
Investigator Noel Martin was recognized for his work in dealing with physical evidence related to skimming and counterfeiting cases. Due to Investigator Martin's expertise in the collection and handling of physical evidence, he continues to assist many law enforcement agencies in the northeast Texas area.
Texas Sheriffs Today will continue to honor individuals who recently received awards. Be on the lookout for your staff in upcoming editions!

The Angelina County Sheriff's Office has released the name of the man whose body was found in a pickup that was submerged in Lake Sam Rayburn Wednesday afternoon.
Captain Alton Lenderman with the with the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said the man has been identified as Steven Michael Paul.

A Forest Hill police officer was injured in a shooting and a suspect was dead after leading officers on a chase into Fort Worth in a stolen police vehicle Wednesday morning, police said.
The officer was shot around 2:30 a.m. in the 6500 block of Forest Hill Drive, police said.

The Madison County jail will transform methods of providing healthcare to prisoners, as county commissioners accepted a proposal from Southern Health Partners to provide on-site and remote care for $62,120 a year.
The change comes as a result of the Sandra Bland Act passed by the Texas legislature in 2017, which mandates county jails divert people with mental health and substance abuse issues toward treatment and requires that independent law enforcement agencies investigate jail deaths.
