Lubbock County awards
On Nov. 12, 2019, Sheriff Kelly Rowe promoted Deputy Jerry Ontiveros to Corporal in the Courts Division. Cpl. Ontiveros started his career with the Sheriff's Office in 2005, as a jailer. In 2014, Corporal Ontiveros transferred to the Court Division; he is a shining example of a servant and a great representative of our office.
Sheriff Rowe also promoted Deputy John Groneman to Corporal in the Patrol Division. Cpl. Groneman has been with the agency since 2016 and is a member of the SWAT Team. The photo on the left features (left to right) Cpl. Ontiveros, Sheriff Rowe and Cpl. Groneman.
Deputy Constantino Galvez and Deputy Tex Recter were recognized for Employee of the Month for November 2019. Lt. Anthony Castillo was recognized as Employee of the Month for December 2019. Their dedication and work ethic has made them an integral part of the Sheriff's Office. The photo on the right includes (left to right), Lt. Castillo, Deputy Galvez, Deputy Recter and Sheriff Rowe.

Atascosa County employees receive service pins
Atascosa County Sheriff David Soward presented Atascosa County Sergeant Deputy Paul Schneider (left picture) with his 20-year service pin. Sheriff Soward also presented Atascosa County Jailer Jose Mendoza (right picture) with his 10-year service pin.

Gov. Greg Abbott thanked deputies from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office for arresting "one of Texas' most wanted gang members" in San Antonio.
The BCSO announced the arrest on its Facebook page Sunday, stating the Sheriff's Habitual Offenders Team and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force worked together to arrest aggravated robbery suspect Xavier Johnson, 25, in the 500 block of Sunrise Canyon.

Lubbock County Sheriff's Deputies initiated a stop on the vehicle Tafoya was driving around 2 p.m. in Lubbock County.
Officials say Tafoya refused to stop and led the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers, Hale County deputies, Crosby County deputies, Idalou Police Department and Floyd County deputies on a chase through Lubbock, Floyd, Hale and Crosby counties.

After 30 years at the Tyler Police Department, Don Martin has been chosen to serve as the East Texas Anti-Gang Center administrator.
Martin, who is the longtime Tyler Police public information officer, will retire from the police department. His full-time duties with TAG will begin Feb. 1, according to an announcement from Smith County Sheriff Larry Smith.

A fire at the Firefly Aerospace facility near U.S. 183 in Briggs led to road closures and evacuations Wednesday evening, the Burnet County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) said.
BCSO said at 6:24 p.m., it was informed of an explosion. The Oakalla Volunteer Fire Department had incident command and, out of an abundance of caution, requested BCSO's assistance to shut down traffic on nearby roads, activate reverse 911 and start evacuations within a one-mile radius of the facility.

San Marcos police officer Claudia Cormier will be throwing out the first pitch at the Peace Officers' Angel Foundation's annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Day with the Texas Rangers.
Officer Cormier lost her leg after being struck by an alleged drunken driver during a traffic stop in May 2019. After the crash, Cormier was determined that she would one day return to the force.
