DEA's Dallas office announces seizure of $45 million in meth, heroin — the largest bust ever

The Drug Enforcement Administration's Dallas field office on Wednesday reported the largest seizure of methamphetamine and heroin in the branch's history.
The drugs — 1,950 pounds valued at $45 million — were sniffed out by a dog during a traffic stop involving a refrigerated tractor-trailer in Denton County on Oct. 8, the DEA said. They had been stashed inside a secret compartment of the truck.

Man charged with 3 felonies in shooting of Harris County sheriff's deputy

A 37-year-old Houston man accused of shooting a Harris County Sheriff's Office deputy was booked into jail on three felony charges in connection with the Tuesday afternoon attack, court records show.
Moises Martinez was charged Wednesday with two counts of felony aggravated assault against a public servant and felon in possession of a weapon, according to Harris County court records.

Rusk County Sheriff's office identifies capital murder victim

Authorities in Rusk county are looking for a person who they say is armed and dangerous.
Late Tuesday night, sheriff's deputies were called to a murder scene on County Road 423, near Henderson.
Both ends of the road remain closed as investigators scour the almost hidden crime scene, at a business called "Texas Best Music."

Father shot and killed by stray bullet at northwest Harris County home

A stray bullet killed a man in bed with his wife in northwest Harris County overnight.
The couple was home on Laurel Creek near Laurel Arbor with their adult daughter and 50-year-old house guest, Norez Hargrove, Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies say. Hargrove was in the living room around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday when the gun he was handling went off. Deputies say a bullet went through the wall, through a TV, and then struck 48-year-old Gerald Peavy. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

2 injured in overnight shooting in Van Zandt County

Van Zandt County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a Monday night shooting that injured two people in Wills Point.
Around 8:35 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 1300 Block of Willow Drive in the Willow Lake Estates, north of the city of Wills Point. The sheriff's office, a Texas DPS trooper, and a game warden responded to the scene.
When they arrived, they found one person with multiple gunshot wounds. According to the report, another victim was located in the city of Wills Point.
