A Round Rock man was arrested after officials say he dragged a Williamson County deputy with his car while fleeing from a traffic stop Wednesday morning. Jonathan Nunnally, 22, was charged with aggravated assault against a public servant with a deadly weapon, a first-degree felony punishable by up to 99 years in prison. The female deputy, whose name was not released, was caught between the open driver’s side door and the car, said Patricia Gutierrez, a spokeswoman for the Williamson County sheriff’s office. The officer was not injured, Gutierrez said.

A 26-year-old with a history of run-ins with police has been charged with capital murder after a Richardson officer was fatally shot Wednesday evening. Brandon McCall is accused of killing Officer David Sherrard after the 13-year veteran officer responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex. Richardson police Chief Jimmy Spivey called Sherrard, the first Richardson officer to die in the line of duty, "a brave, tenured police officer."

A Texas sheriff's deputy is in serious condition after being stabbed in the neck and head while responding to a domestic dispute at a home near San Antonio. The Bexar County sheriff's deputy was responding to a report of a domestic disturbance Wednesday night. Authorities say the deputy had broken up a fight between a father and a son when he was attacked. Investigators say the deputy was trying to speak with the son when a struggle ensued. Sheriff's officials say the son repeatedly stabbed the officer in the back of his head and neck. The son was arrested.

Dallas Police Department SWAT team members say they told a sniper that a robot would be carrying a phone — not explosives — down the long hallway where he had holed up during a standoff after his ambush attack that killed five officers on July 7, 2016. The SWAT members told The Dallas Morning News about the construction of the bomb that was instead taped to the back of a book and fastened to the robot before being detonated and killing Micah Johnson. The 25-year-old former Army reservist had told them he wanted to kill white police officers.
