There's a Texas state senator with a new target on his back, courtesy of President Donald Trump and the Rockwall County sheriff.
At a meeting Tuesday with sheriffs from around the country, Sheriff Harold Eavenson complained about a state senator who wanted to make it harder for law enforcement to get control of assets forfeited by drug traffickers.
"Do you want to give his name? We'll destroy his career," Trump offered.

New details have emerged surrounding the slaying of 22-year-old Zuzu Renee Verk, a North Texas college student whose remains were found Friday in a shallow grave in West Texas. Police said Verk's boyfriend, Robert Fabian, was seen buying three painters drop cloths the night she disappeared in October. According to the arrest warrant affidavit, those drop cloths match the thin plastic sheets her body was found wrapped in.

A man has been arrested and charged after his two young daughters were allegedly found sitting on a curb holding a bag of cocaine. Curtis Champs Jr., 38, has been charged with two counts of endangering a child. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, a security guard was making her rounds at the Costa Avis Apartments in the 17200 block of Hafer Road on Monday afternoon. The guard noticed two little girls sitting on a curb in front of an apartment block holding a bag with white powder in it.

Four people died in a three-vehicle collision Tuesday on Texas 359, according to Webb County Sheriff Martin Cuellar. The collision involved a pickup truck, a car and a tractor-trailer, the sheriff said. It occurred at about 7 a.m. on Texas 359, near the Webb County youth village.
