Deputies on Tuesday discovered two malnourished children crammed into a locked dog cage and two more smeared with feces and urine in a barn in North Texas, in what a sheriff described as the worst case of child abuse he has ever seen.
The barn was "crudely fashioned" into living quarters, Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said, adding that all the children were hungry and thirsty around 7:20 a.m. when deputies responding to a domestic disturbance found them on the property near Rhome, about 20 miles north of Fort Worth.

North Texas federal officials recently announced the indictments of 27 Houston residents in connection with an armed robbery ring that targeted ATM service technicians across Texas and in other states.
The defendants committed at least 47 "strong-arm robberies" of ATM technicians as they serviced the machines from August 2017 through January 2019, said Joseph D. Brown, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Texas.

Sheriff's officials say they have found five people who were shot to death in a house in Texas.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that officers on Monday morning found multiple victims of "apparent gunshot wounds" in the home in the unincorporated community of Blanchard, about 70 miles northeast of Houston.

El Paso County sheriff's deputies responded Tuesday night to an injured party call on the 100 block of Southwest River Street in Fabens.
According to a news release, the deputies found a group of individuals causing a disturbance and an unconscious person lying on the floor when they arrived.
The victim, identified in the news release as Roberto Cordero, 57, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At least five Texas family members — including a 1-year-old girl — were found dead inside a home Monday.
When authorities arrived at the grandparents' Blanchard home, they discovered the bodies of a Randy Horn, his 27-year-old wife Ashley Delaney, the couple's infant daughter, Ranley, and Delaney's grandparents, Carlos and Linda Delaney, ages 74 and 72, according to KHOU-TV.
It was reported that Horn was spotted at a sports bar hours before the shooting where staff and regulars said he appeared unusually withdrawn. While sitting at the bar, Horn reportedly posted a cryptic message.
