A Texas sheriff's department released an incident report late Tuesday that revealed new details of the discovery of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's body, as well as the name of the friend who accompanied him on the hunting trip and the items found inside the ranch bedroom where the justice was found.
In response to a public records request made by The Washington Post, the Presidio County Sheriff's Office released an incident report from the sheriff's investigation of Scalia's death at the Cibolo Creek Ranch on Feb. 13. The report stated that the justice's body was found in bed with a pillowcase covering his eyes. A breathing apparatus was on the table next to the bed, but it was switched off. Scalia was lying on three pillows "stacked up to elevate his head."

It looked like a high-speed chase. The calls coming in described a female driver who was out of control. When Sgt. Seth Klehm with the Brenham Police Department pulled up next to the woman, he realized that wasn't running from the law. As it turns out, she needed help. The woman was diabetic and heading for traffic that had stopped ahead. Klehm then moved ahead of her. Seconds later, the woman crashed into his car and the impact was caught on the dash cam.
Klehm then got out of his car to check on the woman who was still incoherent. He busted out the windows to unlock her door and moments later paramedics arrived. The woman was revived, but Klehm was taken to the hospital for neck pain. Those close to him say he's a hero.

Hundreds of women recently attended a law enforcement recruiting seminar, "Women in Law Enforcement," hosted by the San Antonio Police Department. The interest and attendance, while not a surprise, is definitely a boost for the force as whole. According to a recent study released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, women make up just 20 percent of all law enforcement officers in the country. But their need in the force is immense and growing.

A 32-year-old man was in custody, and Child Protective Services workers were caring for his three children after the youngsters were found in a minivan abandoned along a rural roadside between Salado and Holland in Bell County. Anthony Alfredo Chavez was in the Bell County Jail Tuesday afternoon. He was arrested after a bizarre series of events that started when a passerby spotted the minivan with the driver's door open on the side of FM 2268. He stopped to check, and found the three children, ages 3, 4 and 7 alone inside the vehicle, which had a flat tire, Bell County Sheriff Eddy Lange said during a news conference.

Curious Comedy's team is usually going for laughs. But there's nothing even remotely funny about the scenes they were acting out at the Hillsboro Police Department's training facility recently. Two officers circle around the back of a mock apartment building. Inside the upstairs unit, someone is screaming at the top of his lungs. It's improv performer Nate May, but he sounds for all the world like someone experiencing a breakdown.

At the beginning of every year, I like to review marksmanship fundamentals. These fundamentals form the foundation for all accurate shooting, but they are something many overlook. Zero your pistol, learn and use a solid stance, and practice sight alignment and trigger control. It's good to revisit these fundamentals periodically and anytime you start to drift into bad habits. The marksmanship fundamentals form the basis of all steady, fast and accurate pistol shooting.
