The FBI has joined the search for a missing 14-year-old Houston-area girl, believed to be in danger after possibly having been with her father when he was killed and his burned body dumped near a ditch in a rural area north of the city. Walker County Sheriff Clint McRae said authorities are afraid for the safety of Adriana Coronado.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a scam that appears to be targeting flood victims. The scammers are reportedly calling residents on Caddo Lake, stating that FEMA will make direct deposits to bank accounts and offer monetary assistance, authorities say. But, sheriff's deputies say the area is not a FEMA declared disaster area at this time.

Hit by a suspected drunk driver, a North Texas man lost his leg and nearly his life had it not been for the actions of two Cedar Hill police officers. Jason Bell was pouring gas into his broken-down vehicle when investigators said he was struck by an intoxicated driver near Pleasant Run Road and Joe Wilson Road. While witnesses called 911 and requested an ambulance, two officers appeared on scene and started working to save the victim's life.

Police departments across Texas are replacing the breath-testing machines used in DWI cases. But some are questioning whether the new device is accurate. For decades, the Intoxilyzer 5000 was the machine DWI suspects would blow into at police stations and jails throughout Texas. For a story back in 2014, Castle Hills Police demonstrated how it worked by testing a couple of our producers. But now the DPS is in the process of replacing all the 5000s with this new model — the Intoxilyzer 9000.
