Travis County presents SAT scholarship to student
Sheriff Sally Hernandez presented Sophia Salo with a scholarship check from the Sheriffs' Association of Texas on March 25. Sophia, a student at Texas State University majoring in aquatic biology, was awarded the Sheriff Allen Bridges Memorial Scholarship for the spring 2020 semester. Sophia is the daughter of Detective Paul Salo.

Two people were killed Wednesday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash just outside of Round Rock.
It happened at around noon at the intersection of CR 172 and Hesters Crossing, about a mile west of I-35.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said it was a two-vehicle crash with two confirmed fatalities. The two people killed were in the same vehicle. A deputy suffered severe burns to his arm and hands while pulling out a person from one of the vehicles that was on fire — that passenger did not survive. The deputy was treated at a local hospital and released, Sheriff Robert Chody said.

But the the Harris County Sheriff’s Office has a outreach homeless program out looking for the homeless population to provide them they help they need. “We are trying to educate them. They don’t have access to television. They don’t have access to seeing all the things they have going on,” said Greg Temple, Harris County Sheriff’s deputy.

The Texas prison system is temporarily halting the intake of new inmates from county jails starting this week, according to an agency letter obtained by KXAS-TV.
The letter, sent to county sheriffs on April 11, states the purpose is to allow the Texas Department of Criminal Justice to combat the spread of COVID-19 without further exposing both county and state inmates.
