At least seven people were killed Wednesday after severe storms and tornadoes ripped through parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
In Texas, at least three people were killed and 20 to 30 people were injured when a tornado touched down at about 6 p.m. near Onalaska, about 75 miles north of Houston, the Polk County Emergency Management System said in a statement. The storm rumbled east through Seven Oaks and caused severe damage to homes and other structures, said Carrie Miller, a spokeswoman for Polk County Judge Sydney Murphy.

Hutchinson County: Munoz sworn in as sheriff
Efren Munoz has been sworn in to serve Sheriff Kirk Coker's unexpired term after Coker's untimely death, according to Hutchinson County Judge Cindy Irwin.
Coker's name will remain on the ballot for the July runoff election due to a state law that says his name must remain on the ballot due to the short amount of time until the election.
Munoz was Coker's Chief Deputy.

Federal investigators are concerned about the potential for hate crimes against minorities in the wake of the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, according to the head of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
In a letter to law enforcement officials around the country, and obtained by CNN, FBI Director Christopher Wray wrote that his agency remains "concerned about the potential for hate crimes by individuals and groups targeting minority populations in the U.S. who they believe are responsible for the spread of the virus."
