Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls warned would-be robbers that if you come into his county waving a gun, you could leave in a bag. The comment came after a homeowner in his county used his gun to defend himself from a man attempting to rob him when he arrived at his home Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred in Fort Bend County located just southeast of Houston near the town of Richmond. The homeowner had just pulled into his driveway when the would-be robber approached him with a gun and demanded money. The homeowner pulled out his own gun and stopped the robbery attempt by shooting the man twice, KTRK-TV reported.

Research has shown the only shot that will instantly stop a fight is one that destroys the brain or severs the spinal cord, thereby disabling the central nervous system. Often someone who has received a fatal wound that reduces blood circulation will still be capable of purposeful activity for 10 seconds or longer because the brain can remain sufficiently oxygenated. A video showing several Miami police officers approaching a suspected marijuana grow house illustrates this point.

The Drug Enforcement Administration says it will make a decision in the coming months that could prove to be a watershed moment for the burgeoning legal marijuana industry. In a recent memo to lawmakers, the DEA announced plans to decide "in the first half of 2016" whether or not it will reschedule marijuana, according to The Washington Post. Cannabis is now listed under the Controlled Substances Act as a Schedule 1 drug, a categorization it shares with other drugs, such as heroin and LSD, which the U.S. government defines as "the most dangerous drugs" that have "no currently accepted medical use and a high potential for abuse."
