8 investments worth every penny for K-9 officers
Police 1
As the K-9 coordinator for my agency, I have purchased thousands of dollars of equipment for the K-9 teams I supervise. As with all law enforcement agencies, our budgets are usually limited. Many K-9 units across the country (including my own) are primarily funded by donations. After continuous in-service training, food costs, endless veterinary bills and much more, my budget is depleted.

Having a servant's heart: A mother-daughter deputy duo's mission to give back
Police 1
In law enforcement, it's common to see children follow in their parents' footsteps.
A child will watch in awe as their mother or father puts on their uniform, turning into their very own version of a superhero. And, in typical superhero fashion, a police officer dons their uniform and jumps into the car of every child's dreams — one that lights up in different colors and makes loud noises.

Feds say a lack of reporting poses barrier to cyber defense
Government Technology
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is making fighting ransomware a top priority, but law enforcement can struggle to get a handle on the scope of the problem — let alone chase down perpetrators — if businesses suffer these attacks in silence.

Timing with accuracy beats power and speed
Police 1
As much as we would rather use shoulder-fired weapons in all of our lethal fights, American law enforcement officers are not always armed with shoulder-fired guns. Deadly harm and lethal resistance often emerge in circumstances when protectors are not expecting it. In those situations, we must win with what we have. The service pistol, therefore, remains the primary weapon in American law enforcement in spite of our worthy efforts to integrate rifles.
