A grand jury south of Austin has indicted two people in the February shooting of a sheriff's deputy who was wounded and required several surgeries to treat his injuries. The Austin American-Statesman and KVUE-TV jointly report that 54-year-old Kimberly Moore and 33-year-old Edwardo Padilla each is charged with deadly conduct with a firearm. The jury recently declined to indict the pair on a more serious charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

A North Texas mother is hospitalized after her ex-husband came to her home early Wednesday and opened fire, injuring her and killing their three children and her boyfriend before turning the gun on himself, sheriff's deputies say. The mother who survived the shooting is identified as Amanda Simpson. Wednesday night, she posted a public facebook video showing her sobbing from her hospital bed as she holds a photo of her three young children and talks about her troubled relationship with her ex-husband. The Denton County Sheriff's Department identified her ex-husband as Justin Painter. Investigators believe he was the gunman.

A Galveston County judge sentenced a former peace officer to 20 years in prison on Wednesday for indecency with a child and online solicitation of a minor. Ruben Noel Ornelas, a former sheriff's deputy in Galveston County, pleaded guilty in January to both felony offenses, according to documents from the 212th District Court.

An Allen man has been arrested after police said he had approximately 58 terabytes of data related to child pornography on his electronic devices. Richard Belden, 39, was arrested in the 1400 block of West McDermott in Allen, after the Collin County Sheriff's Office and the Plano Police Department executed a search warrant on Tuesday. Belden is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one charge of possession with the intention to promote child pornography.
