Three more bodies of deceased illegal immigrants have been found in Brooks County, Texas. The individuals died while being smuggled around the Border Patrol checkpoint located just south of Falfurrias. Brooks County is not a border county. In fact, it is located nearly 80 miles from the Texas/Mexico border. Over the past few years, hundreds of bodies have been found of these people who are simply left to die by human smugglers if they become injured or are simply too weak to keep up.

He pledged to keep working toward a bipartisan overhaul to make the criminal justice system fairer, smarter and more effective so that officers are well-equipped to enforce the country's laws.

But a new study by the Council of Economic Advisors says there is not a relationship between rising incarceration of convicted criminals and falling crime. Jason Furman is chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisors and joins us from his office.

While body-worn cameras for law enforcement have been pushed as a way to reduce police use-of-force as well as assaults against officers, a new study suggests that the opposite may be true. The largest to date analysis of body camera use by officers in the U.S. and the U.K. — published this week in both the European Journal of Criminology and the Journal of Experimental Criminology — found that the devices actually increased the instances of violence on police.

Defensive weapons and tactics instructor John Farnam writes: "I routinely advise students that my range is not a 'safe' place, and that all who are under the impression that when they're here, they're in a super-safe environment where no one can possible get hurt, no matter how hard they try, labor under a delusion. Our goal is personal victory, accepting all inherent risks, and we go about it as safely as we reasonably can!"
