Minutes before midnight on May 6, a woman called the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office.
Luis “Ferrari” Jimenez, 28, of McAllen — a drug trafficker with Gulf Cartel connections — had kidnapped her husband and an acquaintance. “Our victims are also involved with the drug trafficking organization,” said Hidalgo County Sheriff J.E. “Eddie” Guerra.

Authorities say police visited the motel room of a North Texas man suspected of kidnapping an 8-year-old girl, hours before the child was found safe.
Michael Webb is charged with aggravated kidnapping after authorities say he snatched the girl as she walked with her mother in a residential Fort Worth neighborhood. The child was found at a WoodSpring Suites motel in nearby Forest Hill.

Police are investigating after a 3-year-old girl was struck and killed by her father’s car in the Houston area. The incident happened outside a home near Sugar Land, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said. The girl’s father started the car to run the air conditioning and accidentally put it into reverse, KTRK-TV reported. The car struck his 3-year-old daughter.

A man was recently killed in a shooting during a drug deal at an apartment in the Houston area, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said the 20-year-old victim, Mike Anthony Lopez Jr., lived at the City Gate at Champions apartments in the 12800 block of Greenwood Forest Dr. in north Harris County. Authorities found his body there after responding to the shooting that night.

There were 400 calls for service on the Bolivar Peninsula during the "Go Topless" Jeep Weekend at Crystal Beach, according to Henry Trochesset, Galveston County sheriff.
Throughout the weekend, there were 68 arrests — 30 of which were alcohol-related and 10 of which were DWI-related — 10 major auto-pedestrian accidents, eight major car crashes and 14 minor accidents, Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said.
