Hundreds attend memorial service for fallen Concho County Deputy Sgt. Stephen Jones

Hundreds of people, including law enforcement officers from across the state, attended a memorial service at PaulAnn Church in San Angelo for Concho County Sheriff's deputy Stephen Jones.
Jones died in the line of duty alongside fellow Concho County Sheriff's deputy Samuel Leonard during a shooting in Eden. The man charged in both deputies' deaths eventually surrendered to Texas Rangers and is currently in custody at Tom Green County Jail.

Gregg County Sheriff's Office swears in 5 new deputies

Five new deputies were sworn in by the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.
Their journey began in September of 2020 at the police academy. In addition to working a regular 12-hour shift as jailers, they were also taking night classes at the police academy.
They now have officially gone from Jailers to Deputy Jailers and will be the first line supervisors in the jail. With that comes new assignments and responsibilities.

Austin police officers rescue man from truck completely engulfed in flames

A man was taken to a local hospital after he was reportedly trapped inside a vehicle that burst into flames in the parking lot of The Enclave Apartments in south Austin.
Two Austin police officers — Chandler Carrera and Eddie Pineda — sprung into action in an attempt to save the man’s life, arriving at the scene just before fire crews, according to an Austin Fire Department spokesperson.

BCSO deputy by day, lucha libre luchador by night

A Bexar County sheriff’s deputy is not letting his day job stop him from following his passion as a lucha libre luchador.
Roger Musquiz has been at the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office for over 20 years.
He’s been known as Lemus Dos since 1986 when he broke into the family tradition.
“I would go to Mexico when I was a kid and my uncle would tell me to come along with him to his lucha libre events,” Musquiz said.

Lavaca County Sheriff's Office mourns passing of K-9 Deputy 'Brix' after sudden illness

The Sheriff's Office is mourning the death of a beloved K-9 deputy after a sudden illness.
The Lavaca County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) announced the sudden passing of K-9 Deputy Brix on their Facebook page. Brix was born on April 1, 2009, and came to the LCSO in 2011 as a narcotics detection canine. Brix was certified by the National Narcotics Detector Dog Association and was well known among other K-9 handlers.

More than 110 pounds of suspected cocaine wash ashore on Texas beaches, sheriff says

Packages containing suspected cocaine have washed up onto the beaches of Matagorda County, Texas, authorities said.
"Please keep in mind that if you ever find a suspicious package on the beach, do not touch or pick up the packages. Packages could contain substances that are harmful if touched. Packages could be anything from Marijuana to Fentanyl," Lt. Philip Hester with the Matagorda County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division said.
