Ride for the fallen Texas law enforcement officers

A somber ceremony for 15 law enforcement officers in Texas who lost their lives in the line of duty this year.
More than 400 motorcycles made their way through downtown Austin.
It's an awesome experience if you've never done it, to see hundreds of bikes in front and back of you, riding safe and being safe, said Robert Bodish, a motorcyclist.

Hood County sheriff recalls tornado outbreak

It was one year ago that a deadly tornado outbreak slammed several North Texas cities. The hardest hit area was Granbury, where winds were estimated to be 180 mph. Six people died when a twister ripped through neighborhoods and caused significant damage.
The National Weather Service recorded 19 tornadoes during the outbreak.
Slain deputy honored with memorial chair at Bexar County substation

The Bexar County Sheriff's Office is honoring the life of one of its slain sergeants, Kenneth Vann, who was shot and killed three years ago on May 28.
Investigators said Vann was sitting idle at a red light when he was shot. According to the sheriff's office, 41-year-old Mark Gonzalez pulled up next to him and opened fire.

Kilgore police Twitter tactic offers traffic hack

The Kilgore Police Department is trying to take the surprise out of police officers waiting with radar and make it easier for drivers in Kilgore to avoid getting a ticket.
The department has become the first agency in East Texas to announce via social media where its officers are positioned with radar.

The original sentence states Logan entered a guilty plea March 22, 1996, and the court sentenced him to four years of probation, with conditions.

Children of the badge: The impact of stress on law enforcement children

We know that being married to a law enforcement officer has its challenges. But how does extended exposure to secondhand stress and trauma affect the children of officers? According to a 2002 study led by Rudy Arredondo, law enforcement children "can develop traumatic stress vicariously" through watching and listening to their parents experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. This exposure can cause symptoms such as hyperarousal, intrusive thoughts, eating disorders and aggressive agitated behaviors.
Supreme Court upholds law enforcement's qualified immunity

In two decisions handed down on Tuesday, May 27, the Supreme Court made it more difficult for citizens to sue law enforcement officers for their conduct. Both decisions were unanimous. The central issue in both was the doctrine of "qualified immunity," which shields public officials from being sued for actions that fall short of violating an established statutory or constitutional right.
