Police K-9 units have medical support from first responders in Texas
KVII-TV
Police officers can sometimes find themselves in life-or-death scenarios. If an officer is wounded on the job, it is guaranteed an EMT will do their absolute best to give them life-saving measures on their way to the hospital.
Here in Texas, the same is true for police K-9 units.
Randall County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Scott Riley says if they are hurt on the job here in the Lone Star State, officers are trained to assist their dogs, and EMTs are allowed to help as well.

Texas sheriff's office deploys 'ghost cars'
Law Officer
High visibility police units are the norm. Law enforcement agencies hope to deter crime and dangerous traffic violations with their presence. Yet, sometimes the most egregious driving takes place when speeders believe “the coast is clear.” Hence, a sheriff’s office in Texas hopes to catch more hazardous violators with “ghost cars,” or patrol vehicles that will blend in with other motorists since they’ll have a watermark type of design.

Officials find lost — but somehow perfectly legal — wallaby in Boerne
San Antonio Express-News
The Kendall County Sheriff's Office had an unusual morning on June 15. Sergeant for Kendall County Sheriff's Office Kabin Calaerner said he captured a wallaby for the first time in his 16-year career after finding the wild animal hopping around near the 3900 block of Interstate 10 Frontage Road in Boerne. It took about 10 to 15 minutes to get the wallaby, Calaerner says. Deputies returned the pet to its owner, who was waiting in the area with a bottle.

Prison break: 29 inmates escape federal lockups in 18 months
The Associated Press
Over the past 18 months, 29 prisoners have escaped from federal lockups across the U.S. — and nearly half still have not been caught. At some of the institutions, doors are left unlocked, security cameras are broken and officials sometimes don’t notice an inmate is missing for hours.
At one Texas lockup, security is so lax that local law enforcement officials privately joke about its seemingly “open-door policy.”
