A Texas sheriff's deputy was killed after he was struck by a passing pickup on Interstate 10 while conducting a traffic stop just northwest of San Antonio.
Kendall County Sheriff Al Auxier says Deputy Carlos Ramirez was struck by the pickup Tuesday morning and his partner was injured.

Sheriff's officials say two gunmen who were demanding money shot and killed a 2-year-old boy and seriously wounded his father at a residential complex north of Houston. Harris County sheriff's Lt. Robert Minchew says the boy, his father and a friend of the father were sitting in an open garage late Tuesday in Spring when they were approached by the suspects.

A fundraising organization is asking for donations to help pay off the mortgage of slain Texas police officer Cpl. Jose 'Speedy' Espericueta, who leaves behind a wife and two children.
Espericueta was shot and killed recently after he responded to assist another officer in the town of Mission, Texas, near the Mexico border. The suspect, who had reportedly shot at his mother's car, opened fire when Espericueta approached him and was killed in a shootout with police.

The charred remains of the home are a reminder for Bryan DuBose of just how bad things could've been for him and his family.
Last week, DuBose and his wife were sleeping when their home caught on fire. The couple only survived because their rescue dog started banging his kennel on the wall.

A police officer in Texas got a suspected criminal off the streets last week thanks to a group of good Samaritans, including one who put an end to a foot chase by literally tackling the man.
The Lewisville Police Department said on Facebook the incident happened on June 22 as Officer Jeff Carey spotted a man rummaging through a vehicle that turned out to be stolen. As Carey got out of his vehicle to approach the man, he started running and got away.
