During its meeting on Monday, the Rockwall City Council proclaimed July 2 as Sheriff Harold and Marcia Eavenson Day in the city of Rockwall, in recognition of their service to Rockwall County and to the National Sheriffs' Association. Eavenson served as sheriff of Rockwall County for 17 years, and recently concluded a year of service as president of the NSA during the NSA Annual Conference in New Orleans on June 15-20.

"Zero tolerance" seems to be the hot-button issue of the moment.
The Trump administration recently responded to criticism by amending its "zero tolerance" policy at the U.S.-Mexico border by stopping the practice of separating families whose members are detained for alleged immigration violations.
Now a sheriff in Texas is defending his recent "zero tolerance" operation that netted 24 arrests, 23 of whom were defendants with Hispanic surnames, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Thirteen of those 23 were subsequently seized by Immigration and Customs Enforcement for deportation hearings, KVUE reported.

Jesus Estrada's body was found Tuesday afternoon in Presidio at the La Mota Ranch, 50 miles south of Marfa. The owner of the ranch found the body on his property and called the sheriff's office. Upon arrival, officers found Estrada's ID on his body as well as his cellphone. Presidio County Sheriff Danny Dominguez Dominguez verified the death.

Authorities discovered the dried remains of a baby in a trunk while searching a home near San Antonio on a drug warrant. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar says the baby’s remains were found in a trunk in a closet Tuesday. Salazar says the body is beyond decomposed and is in a desiccated state.
