Remains found earlier this year in Midland County have been identified as two individuals who have been missing since October 2015. The remains are of Ashley Cruz-Rodriguez, 19, and John Iglesia-Alvarez, 20, Midland County Sheriff Gary Painter said Friday. The positive identification was made through DNA, he said.

Jay Jones with the Taylor County Sheriff's Office decided to donate his kidney to Clayton Bolt after the Abilene, Texas man was unable to find someone in his family that fit certain transplant criteria, such as blood typing, tissue typing and cross-matching.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office arrested a man on Wednesday after customers at a local gas station restrained him for allegedly recording a woman using the restroom with his cellphone. A Mexican diplomat says a Texas sheriff told him he stood by a traffic sting that led to the arrest of 14 undocumented immigrants, many of whom were later deported. Carlos Gonzalez Gutierrez is Mexico's general consul in Austin. He has been outspoken since the June 23 arrests and called it an escalation of collaboration between local police and immigration authorities.

Austin police revealed the haul from a major drug bust last week that found $4.8 million worth of illegal drugs. The Austin Police Department said they caught Armando Martinez, 43, smuggling 138 pounds of illegal narcotics inside the metal casings of his car tires. Authorities estimated the value of the drugs to be $4.8 million.

Roughly 135 cops died in 2016, making it the deadliest year for police officers in at least five years, Fox News has found. While there were fewer deaths in 2017, the numbers weren’t much better: A total of 129 officers died last year. And 46 of those were caused by gunfire.
