A dozen law enforcement agencies arrested 19 men last month as part of a joint investigation into allegations of child exploitation, the Collin County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday.
The investigation, known as "Operation Athena," occurred between July 8 and July 12. Led by the Collin County Sheriff's Office, officials investigated people who used the internet for child trafficking and child pornography, according to the sheriff's department.

Officials say Jordan Chastain, 15, of Marshall, was last seen on foot, leaving her home on Muntz Cutoff. Friends and family had not heard from her since Monday.

Investigators are trying to find information about human remains found in a wooded area in south Liberty County.
Two men found human remains just off County Road 133 on Wednesday.
The sheriff's office and Texas Rangers then found more remains Thursday. The additional remains were found in a part of the woods that had recently been under water because of flooding at the Trinity River, according to the sheriff's office.

Police in San Antonio say a 9-year-old boy was kidnapped and almost trafficked to another city, WOAI-TV reported recently.
The police department spent the night tracking down the child.
Police said the boy was kidnapped in downtown, and local authorities and Homeland Security were immediately notified.

It's been almost a month since the death of Deputy Carlos Ramirez.
The El Paso native was serving in Kendall County when he was struck and killed by a passing car during a routine traffic stop on July 2.
Ramirez leaves behind a wife and two children, but recently the family had a reason to honor him once again. His wife, Jessica Ramirez, walked across the graduation stage of Park University to receive her bachelor's degree.

A deadly shooting on June 14 at a Costco in Corona, California, outside Los Angeles, brought this issue to the forefront again. Following the incident, a panel convened to increase awareness of autism, train officers, and prevent further such horrors.
