Texas sheriffs decry federal policies; SAT immediate past president comments

Texas sheriffs, the lieutenant governor and experts in immigration related issues met at the state Capitol on Wednesday to discuss the federal government's creation of a sanctuary state for criminal aliens through its Priority Enforcement Program (PEP).
Jackson County Sheriff A.J. (Andy) Louderback, immediate past president of the Sheriff's Association of Texas, told Breitbart Texas that the federal government's PEP program "has created a sanctuary state for criminal aliens because it has gutted the immigration system."

McLennan County sheriff: Suspect claims to be part of hacker group, defender of Sandra Bland

A man claiming to be part of the hacktivist group Anonymous and a defender of Sandra Bland is accused of making threats to local law enforcement. Scott Fare, 36, was arrested and booked around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday after a seven-hour manhunt which started when he came to the McLennan County Jail and threatened to kill sheriff's deputies and Waco police officers in the parking lot, then fled.
Badges for Benevolence Motorcycle Ride set for Aug. 9

The 1st Deputy Sheriff's Association of Bexar County has scheduled a Badges for Benevolence motorcycle ride in San Antonio. The event will benefit the DSABC Benevolent Fund, which is used to assist officers who are association members with unforeseen incidents.
Video: Brooks County sheriff to utilize Operation Stonegarden funds

Lufkin Police Department releases dashcam video from high-speed chase

Days after a 100-mph chase that resulted in the arrest of a Missouri man, the Lufkin Police Department released a 14-minute video showing the highlights of the hour-long pursuit. Chief Gerald Williamson said the video is a testament to the level of coordination displayed by the eight agencies involved for such a volatile situation to end with no injuries.
Dallas police stations security upgrades put at $7 million

Officials in Dallas estimate it will cost nearly $7 million to boost security at the Dallas police headquarters and seven substations around the city. The estimate from City Manager A.C. Gonzalez comes in the wake of a gunman firing more than 40 shots at the headquarters June 13 before he was shot and killed later that day. Mayor Mike Rawlings said at the time money would be no object.

Dash cam video released of state rep's traffic stop

The Austin County Sheriff's Office released the dash camera video of a July 14 traffic stop of State Rep. Garnet Coleman Tuesday to refute claims Coleman made last week about being disrespected and treated "like a child." Coleman, as the chair of the Committee on County Affairs, held a hearing last Thursday in Austin as the first public inquiry into the arrest and death of Sandra Bland in Waller County. In that hearing, The Houston Democrat recounted his own history of being pulled over in traffic stops and gave this account of an I-10 traffic stop that happened just two weeks ago.
